Methodology School in empirical research methods in November
Southeast Asian Studies at Freiburg University is organizing a methodology school in empirical research methods between 7 November and 9 November 2014. The workshop is open for students and young scholars of all disciplines, independent of their research focus.

On August 7th, Stefan Rother will hold a guest lecture at the Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore. His lecture is titled 'From the Ground Up: The Space for Southeast Asian Migrants’ Rights Activists in the Global Governance of Migration'

"Social Identities in Contemporary Indonesia; a new framework of studying Asia" is a collaborative project, run by a team of researchers from The Australian National University and University of Freiburg, and sponsored by Australia's Group of Eight (Go8) universities and the German Academic Exchange Service.

EUROPEAN SPRING ACADEMY | Regional Integration in the 21th Century: EU and ASEAN in comparison
From May 5 to 15, the European Spring Academy will convene in Otzenhausen, Germany for an in-depth discussion of comparative regional integration in the EU and the ASEAN. Prof. Jürgen Rüland form the University of Freiburg will be present for a panel on EU-ASEAN relations.

The University of Freiburg offers two beginner courses in the summer term. Both an introductory course in Bahasa Indonesia as well as advanced Thai course will be taught. Both courses are free of charge. Applicants welcome!
