The GSI was launched on December 2005 by the IISD to put a spotlight on subsidies – transfer of public money to private interests – and how they undermine efforts to put the world economy on a path toward sustainable development. Further information concerning the GSI and its activities are available online at: www.globalsubsidies.org. The IISD is a Canada-based policy research institute that promotes change towards sustainable development (www.iisd.org).
