In February, March and April 2012 Jarno Lang carried out a first explorative fieldtrip in Indonesia for his dissertation on "Threat Perception - The Image of the USA in the Indonesian Media". In Jakarta and Yogyakarta he had the opportunity to meet up with politicians and scholars from Universitas Indonesia (UI) and UGM (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and discuss different perspectives on the American-Indonesian relationship and the role of the media in post-Suharto Indonesia. In Yogyakarta he also attended an advanced learner’s Indonesian language course. This explorative fieldtrip was successful, as a firm basis could be established, from which further field research will be deducted.
