Indonesian Movie Night: "Minggu Pagi di Victoria Park" (7 June 2013)
The Anthropology Institute of Freiburg University and Pic[k]Lock productions, Jakarta/Indonesia present "Minggu Pagi di Victoria Park" (Sunday morning in Victoria Park).
Cinema | Southeast Asia in the Wednesday screenings of Kommunales Kino Freiburg
This month the Freiburg arthouse cinema "Kommunales Kino Freiburg" has dedicated it´s wednesday-screenings to movies from and about Southeast Asia.
Tandem Research between the University of Freiburg and Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta continues in 2013
The international and interdisciplinary tandem-research-cooperation between the Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta and the University of Freiburg will be continued in summer 2013. Nine Indonesian students of cultural anthropology and political science will come to Freiburg in June 2013 and conduct field research with students from Freiburg University.

The workshop is being offered to young researchers of the humanities.

Colloquium Politicum Spotlight | Southeast Asia at the University of Freiburg
With SPOTLIGHT, the Colloquium politicum wants to specifically highlight programs and interdisciplinary research with an international focus and outreach. As regards Southeast Asia, the University of Freiburg pursues an interdisciplinary concept of research. In the frame of the Southeast Asian Studies Programme, national and international guest scholars regularly present their findings and discuss current issues.
New Perspective on Asia: CETRAS
The University of Freiburg has established the Center for Transcultural Asian Studies/CETRAS.

Conference | "Religion, Tradition and the Popular" (Freiburg, 8-10 November 2012)
The current worldwide resurgence of religion goes hand in hand with new religious practices, forms of articulation and mass mediatization as well as idiosyncratic references to the past. This interdisciplinary conference will focus on the popularization of religions in Europe, Asia and the transcultural, global space. We are especially interested in the interconnection between the making of religion, tradition and the popular.

Memorandum of Understanding with Universitas Gadjah Mada & Universitas Hasanuddin
In October 2012 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Departments of Anthropology and International Relations of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Universitas Hasanuddin, Makassar, Albert-Ludwigs Universität and the Southeast Asian Studies Group, Freiburg.
LECTURE | Jürgen Rüland and Paruedee Nguitragool on "ASEAN as Negotiator in International Forums: Reality, Potential and Constraints" (29 August 2012, Singapore)
At 29 August 2012 Prof. Jürgen Rüland and Dr. Paruedee Nguitragool will present preliminary research findings of the project "ASEAN as Negotiator in International Forums: Reality, Potential and Constraints" at the National University of Singapore.
Lecture | Prof. Günther Schulze: "What Determines Firms’ Decision to Formalize? Evidence from Rural Indonesia" (6&8 August 2012, Yogyakarta & Jakarta)
