Summerschool Study Experience South-East Asia 2012:
One week special offer - apply until May 25 at a reduced price

For its 4-weeks summer school programme the Austrian Society for South-East Asian Studies offers places to participate at a reduced price. The study trip takes its participants from Bangkok, Pattaya via Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, Chiang Khong up to Houay Xay, Luang Namtha, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane in Laos. The tour is guided and accompanied by experienced Austrian and Thai scholars enabling the students an especially insightful and rich experience.

The multidisciplinary programme covers seminars and lectures from sustainable development and ecotourism to current political cleavages in both Thailand and Laos. Discussions and presentations by local NGO experts and academics allow students to get a unique view of the current situation on the ground. An embedded and guided research project lets participants gain some first experience in field work and relevant methodology. In addition to that the programme features an interesting cultural programme. A small group size allows participant to receive intensive guidance and gain a deep understanding and experience of the topics that are on the programme’s agenda.

Study Experience takes part from July 15 to August 14. The programme is conducted in English. Applications at a discount of 100€ off the regular tariff are still possible until Friday, May 25.

You can find more information on the programme’s website:  http://www.seas.at/studyexperience or write an email to project coordinator Claudia Dolezal claudia.dolezal@seas.at
