Dr. Krisztina Kis-Katos, born 1975, studied economics at the University of Szeged, Hungary, and International Economics at the University of Konstanz, Germany. She received her doctoral degree in Economics at the University of Freiburg in 2010. Since 2001 she has been working as research associate for the chair in International Political Economy at the University of Freiburg. Her dissertation on Globalization and Child Labor analyzed the effects of trade liberalization on child labor both from a theoretical and an empirical perspective. South and South-East Asia constitutes the geographic focus of her work, which includes various empirical studies on Indonesia and North-India. She has published articles in the Journal of International Trade and Economic Development and in the Journal of Peace Research, and has articles forthcoming the Journal of Human Resources, European Journal of Political Economy and Journal of Development Studies. Her further research interests include empirical analysis of terrorism, environmental economics, and political economy.
